Job Description: We are currently working on behalf of a client who are searching for a confident and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join their hospital night team. They are looking for a capable all-rounder who strives for high clinical standards in general practice and enjoys the challenge of emergency practice and critical care cases. The role covers all aspects of OOH care including consulting, emergency surgeries and inpatient management, so a level of experience is required (at least 1-2 years in practice). A certificate in ECC, Diagnostic Imaging or Internal Medicine would be advantageous, but not essential.

The hub of this practice is the purpose-built RCVS Accredited Hospital in the centre of Aylesbury, which is fitted out with a full range of diagnostic and surgical equipment, allowing their team to work to the highest standards. The 3 branches in the town and surrounding villages funnel in a client base that is well insured and motivated to work up cases. Hospitalised patients are managed to a high level with the support of our committed and talented team of RVNs. The quality of care doesn’t stop at the end of the workday, as their dedicated team of night Vets and RVNs provide round the clock emergency and intensive care for patients. And if all else fails, they are situated close to some of the best referral centres in the country.

You will be joining a team of 10 Day Vets, 3 Night Vets, 15 Day Nurses, 3 Night Nurses, 3 Kennel Assistants, 2 Lab Techs. The night vet is supported by a night nurse (1900 – 0800) and a twilight nurse (1600 – 2300). The night team work seamlessly with the day team, handing over to a dedicated in-patient vet and ward nurse team, ensuring excellent continuity of care. The hospital also covers the OOH cases of 8 small to medium practices, accepting transfers of in-patients and seeing emergency appointments.

Shift times are 7pm - 8am, and worked on 7 nights on, 14 nights off rota.

Salary: £65,000 +
6.6 weeks holiday (including bank holidays).
Membership to Health Shield.
Cycle to Work Scheme.
A substantial employee discount.
