You’ll be joining a dedicated team of 70 colleagues, including 15 experienced vets, within a hospital that supports both first-opinion and referral-level care.

The Role
4-day working week (Mon–Fri)
1 x Surgical shift
1 x Inpatient shift
2 x Consulting shifts
1 in 4 weekends (Sat & Sun, 10 hours/day) – no sole charge
Focus on ECC, 30-minute sick pet consults, and inpatient care
You’ll be supported by certificate holders in Surgery, Medicine, and Dentistry, and have access to a proactive in-house CPD and clinical development programme.
What They're Looking For
There are two potential focuses for this position:
Option 1: Experienced General Practitioner
Confident, well-rounded vet with solid UK first-opinion experience
Keen to work in a supportive hospital environment with access to certificate-level colleagues
Looking to develop further skills or pursue certificates
Option 2: Veterinary Surgeon with an Interest in Ophthalmology
Experience in ophthalmology and happy to combine ophthalmology clinics and procedure day
Opportunity to expand ophthalmology services across 19 referring practices
Please note: Due to the hospital’s high clinical standards and complex caseload, this role is not suitable for new graduates or vets without prior UK practice experience.
Clinical Case Exposure
The hospital frequently manages advanced procedures and cases including:
Surgical: Oesophageal tube placements, Seldinger chest drains, peritoneal drains, pigtail urinary catheters, exploratory laparotomies, enterotomies/enterectomies, caesareans, pyometras
Medical: Addison’s, DKA, severe pancreatitis, transfusion medicine
Diagnostics & Procedures: TFAST/AFAST, endoscopy, negative pressure wound therapy, urinary catheterisation
Hospital Equipment
Fully equipped hospital with comprehensive, cutting-edge diagnostic and surgical tools:
Laboratory: Procyte haematology, Catalyst Dx, EPOC, Coags (APTT/PT), Angio/Felv/FIV/Giardia/Parvo/Lepto tests, Lipids
Imaging: Digital X-ray, advanced Doppler ultrasound, CT, flexible & rigid endoscopy (gastroscope, bronchoscope, otoscope), laparoscopy
Surgery: Gen11 vessel sealing, Valleylab monopolar/bipolar, Ligaclips, E20 sterilisation
Monitoring: Multiparameter (ECG/Cap/Temp/SpO₂/BP), Doppler BP, ECG
Dental: Dental X-ray with CR7 developer
