Job Description: Are you looking for a supportive environment where you are encouraged to explore your interests? If so, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.

A vacancy for a new vet has arisen with a small animal practice on the outskirts of Hamilton, just off the M74, making it well situated for anyone wishing to commute from other locations. Under 30 minutes from Glasgow City Centre and under an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh airports.

This thriving practice with a loyal client base sees a wide variety of cases. The team is made up of 7 vets, 6 nurses (including 1 SVN), a Practice Manager and 4 Client Care Advisors. One team member has just started a certificate in imagining and a visiting orthopaedic attends where needed.

The practice run standard 15-minute consults, extended to 30 minutes for more complicated cases. Regular slots are scheduled for paperwork and consults finish early to make sure that the team can leave on time, if you don't then paid overtime is offered. The skills of their nursing team are fully utilized, helping to relieve the pressure on their vets and allowing them to focus on other aspects of the role. Clinical meeting are held twice weekly giving opportunity to discuss cases and ensure the team are working the best possible way for both themselves and their patients. There are already 2 VetGDP advisors within the practice but they would love to find someone who enjoys teaching and mentoring to continue to encourage the culture of ongoing learning and development.

Our client is open to both full and part time candidates working between 25-40 hours per week, with 1 in 4 weekends, of which the Sunday would be sole charge. When working sole charge there will always be support available at the end of the phone and they have subscription to VetCT radiography support. A full-time position involves working a 4-day week, with a fixed day off and a long weekend (Friday off) after your weekend working. While they can accommodate a consult biased role, you maybe required to do surgery at the weekend so will need to feel confident with this. No OOH’s or on call is required. They will also consider vets looking for a fixed term maternity contract.

Included in the package on offer:
- Salary up to £55k (negotiable DOE or for certificate holders)
- 5.6 weeks holiday
- Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
- Funded CPD and Certificates
