Job Description: Due to continued growth, our client, a thriving small animal surgery in Basildon, is seeking three Veterinary Surgeons to join their friendly and established team.
You will be joining the current supportive team of 4 vets, 6 registered veterinary nurses, 2 student nurses 4 receptionists, 1 client account manager and 1 practice manager.. There is a variety of individual interests with the team including orthopaedics, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging, vets who have completed their certificates and who are working towards it. A generous CPD allowance is on offer and the practice is happy to support the sponsorship of certificates or further studies for the right candidate.
This purpose built practice is is equipped with facilities including digital X-ray, flexible and rigid endoscopes and has easy access to a 16 slice CT scanner. As they benefit from a fully equipped endoscopy suite, the use of minimally invasive procedures like otoendoscopy for diagnosis and treatment of ear disease, rhinoscopy, bronchoscopy, gastroendoscopy and colonoscopy, lap assisted biopsies, enterotomy, cystotomy and ovariectomy are encouraged. They have recently invested in Colibri II Synthes power drill to help with orthopaedic surgeries . The team are very passionate about pain management for our pets and routinely perform nerve blocks, CRIs and up-to-date with knowledge of recent advancement in anaesthesia and pain management and have invested in multiparameter monitors, nerve locator machine, syringe drivers, drip pumps etc.
Here you will see a real variety of cases with a ratio of approx. 60:40 dogs to cats. Lots of orthopaedic procedures are performed in-house including patella luxation, fracture repairs, cruciate surgeries with TPLO in addition to a wide variety of soft tissue surgery.
One of these three roles is for a senior vet with considerable surgical experience who is confident of handling variety of surgical caseload. Orthopaedic experience is not necessary as you will be given the opportunity to learn advanced orthopaedic surgeries but would be an added bonus. There will also be the opportunity to mentor younger vets.
The other two positions are for vets with around 12 months post graduation experience looking to join an experienced team in an environment where you will have plenty of opportunities to learn, develop and grow, You will be either confident or willing to develop your skills for all routine surgical and medical cases and enjoy seeing cases through from start to finish, whilst building strong, lasting relationships with patients and clients. An interest in orthopaedics would be an advantage but not essential! Clinical support is provided at all times and you will certainly get hands on support/experience in the operating theatre!
Full or part time hours (minimum of 20 hours) can be considered for all three of these roles with a 1 in 4 / 5 weekend rota. Thee are no OOH's.
