Job Description: We are currently working with a multi award-winning, well-established practice in Northeast Lancashire who are looking for both a full and part-time Small Animal Vet to join their friendly professional clinical team. Both positions can be considered with or without on-call.
For those unfamiliar with the area, there is something for everyone. For walking and hiking enthusiasts there is the Ribble Valley and Pennine Way. The Forest of Bowland, an area of outstanding natural beauty is on the doorstep and the Yorkshire Dales and Bronte Country are all within easy reach. The area has 2 golf courses, a sailing club, a cycling club that meets regularly at a closed road cycle circuit, and for those more into extreme off-road biking there are plenty of trails at nearby Gisburne Forest. The area also (currently!) boasts a premier league football team. And for those who enjoy city life, the vibrant cities of Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds are all within easy reach by road or public transport and offer excellent shopping and night life.
This first opinion practice was first established back in 1911 as a single site, mixed practice. Today their Farm and Equine and Companion Animal departments are run totally separately and in addition to 3 Clinical Directors the practice employs in the region of 80 staff and has a experienced team of excellent and dedicated vets, nurses and receptionists. Their facilities allow for good case work up and include a state-of-the-art DR digital x-ray machine with cloud-based image storage, ECG, flexible endoscope, ultrasound scanner, tonometer, infusion pumps and a well-equipped lab including an electrolyte analyser.
The practice has its own in-house out of hours service with a team of RVN's who work through the night to support the on-call vet. This is a service greatly appreciated by clients and one that increases case exposure to their vets. Out of hours for both of these roles is optional, but if you do decide to participate in the OOH's rota, on call is kept to a minimum with vets having the following 24 hours off after a night on call and accommodation on site for the on-call vet to use if preferred. The current OOH rota is approximately 1 night every other week and 1.5 in 8 weekends (Monday and Tuesday off in lieu followed by 6 weekends off). Full time vets involved in the out of hours service do a variation of 3-, 4- and 5-day weeks on an 8-week rolling rota with only two 5-day weeks in every 8 weeks.
The package on offer includes:
* A salary commensurate with experience. As a guide, one year qualified £38,000, 6 years qualified £53,000 (pro rata)
* Up to 38 days holiday a year, with a holiday buy back scheme for those who love to travel.
* A generous CPD allowance of £1,700 per year and certificates are encouraged with a higher CPD budget given.
* Heathcare scheme
* Option to join their corporate gym membership for only £22.50 a month giving access to 4 gyms and the use of a further 13 leisure centres throughout Est Lancashire including fun pools and discounts on spa treatments
